Dumpster

It is a dangerous thing

to have in the yard.

It beckons –

give me that thing

you do not want.

I will make it

simply go away.

Do not bother to

re-gift or refresh it,

to re-sell or recycle.

Do not spend a

moment’s thought

or energy on how to

repurpose or reuse.

 

Drunk with freedom,

      I dump.

 

Ashamed of the waste,

      I dive …

 

… and much that

was abandoned

returns to be

reconsidered.
