Mindfulness

Yes, it is important to

keep track of where our

feet are at any given

moment, so an errant toe

doesn't catch the curb,

so a wandering hand

doesn’t slosh hot coffee.

Important as well to

be aware of where we

stand (metaphorically

speaking) amidst our

challenges and choices,

lest we seem as errant

children whose thoughtless

words catch others in

their heedless flight.

Consider the dancer,

who is mindful of each

tiny muscle. For them,

thoughtful movement

makes all movement

possible. They cannot

stand safely frozen,

but must concentrate

on stepping forward

with grace.
